Just another sign of our imminent health care revolution!!! (im not too sure about his GMO stance personally but lots of good genomic info) Using technology like this we can tailor health care to individual more than ever before-bringing preventative medicine to a whole new level. As we do this for generations to come, we will also be able to easily see epi-gentic trends and reveal more on how to improve the health of hummanity as a whole.
This breakthrough, and approaching affordability of it, is so useful not because it is cutting edge technology but because it helps to identify the ROOT their disharmony and subsequently pinpoints the treatment. Plus it will aid in the prevention of wrong diagnoses and prolonged symptomatic suppression.
It all comes back to the fundamentals: identify the cause, treat the individual, remove obstacles to cure, educate the patient, provide the body with the nutrients it needs and prevention. The genome project just provides one more root finding tool in the ND’s toolbox.
Nature Cure Lovers rejoice! Come celebrate the vis and absorb wisdom from our field’s most passionate and influential elders and NDs.
The 2011 Naturopathic Gathering is being hosted by the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto on November 4th-6th.
What is the Gathering?
“The purpose for the Gathering is simple, to bring the elders of Naturopathic medicine together for a conversation with the new generations about vitalistic medicine in practice and theory…The Vision of the Gathering is one of continual growth for Naturopathic Medicine as a true expression of its philosophy. The Mission remains to deepen the understanding of Naturopathic philosophy in our profession–thus informing its practice–by bringing students, doctors, and elders together in a safe, spirit-filled space for the Vis Medicatrix Naturae to work within them” Visit http://www.naturopathicgathering.com for more info and to register.
So you just went to an apple orchard. You picked a basket full of ripe autumn apples, each one selected for its own unique quality.
“Ooh, get some small ones, some bright red ones, some sour, sweet and round ones!”
Back home you feel amazing, staring down at your sorted bounty. And you will probably feel great that whole week too; an apple a day keeps the doctor away, right?
But maybe this old saying, itself representing an entire paradigm of medicine really–is wrong. If you eat an apple, or many apples in this case, and you feel great, maybe that is when you should go to the doctor. Because whether you choose to visit a ND or MD, any nuanced health professional worth seeing will recognize the power of preventative medicine, and that’s what we are getting to here.
I was lucky enough to squeeze in a lot of backpacking and camping trips this summer with my friends and family. While marveling at the wonders of it all, re-grounding ourselves and finding tranquility with nature, we also did a lot of plant identification on the run! Love you Peterson Guide to Medicinal Plants and Herbs!!
